New handmade amphorae in Celler Tianna Negre!

En Celler Tianna Negre We are excited about the arrival of two new 800-liter clay amphorae, handmade by the ceramist artisan Carles Llach, using the soil from our own vineyards to create a clay with fine porosity, ideal for our local varieties.

The use of clay amphorae for wine aging is an ancient tradition, as this is the oldest known container for making and preserving wineSince ancient times, civilizations such as the Romans, Greeks, and Phoenicians have used clay to ferment and store their wines, taking advantage of the unique properties of this natural material.

Why is clay so interesting for wine aging? Because of its ability to allow a very gentle and natural micro-oxygenation Through its fine pores, which helps the wine evolve and mature gently, preserving its freshness, character, and minerality. Unlike other containers, such as oak barrels, clay doesn't add external aromas or "mask" the wine, allowing it to express itself as it truly is, authentically reflecting the terroir and variety.

These new amphorae will allow us to age our wines. without makeup, helping them express their character and minerality with complete sincerity. This is the commitment of the winery's team in their ongoing search for new methods that bring greater personality and uniqueness to our wines.

And here's a secret... don't tell anyone... but it seems that with this very special commitment, some very interesting new wine could be born 😉

We will continue sharing this adventure with you!
